It was one year ago the Florida Department announced there were two COVID-19 cases in Florida, which were later confirmed by Gov. DeSantis.

Since then, 30,999 have died, and 2,399 from Broward County.

Tests are still being conducted on a daily basis. On February 218, there were 33,559. Out of those, 2,931 came back positive. Of the positive test results, 1,817 were those testing positive for the first time.

There’s hope in sight. Not only did testing and cases dramatically decline compared to previous days, but the first-time positivity rate also declined to 6.32-percent — a steady decrease compared to the numbers reported last week.

In Coral Springs, there have been 11,004 total positive COVID-19 cases since the pandemic began, with 95 positive cases since February 27.

Statewide in Florida, there are 1,910,921 positive cases to date. The average age to contract COVID-19 in Broward County on February 28 was 41-years-old, slightly older than usual. For months, the average Floridian to test positive has hovered between 39 and 42-years-old.

Vaccinations

Data released by the Florida Department of Health on February 25 show 4,697,891 – or 14.65 percent of Floridians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination.

Florida has fully vaccinated 8.16-percent of its population. Broward County, with a population of 1,9 million residents as of 2019, reported 405,070 doses of the vaccine have been administered, and 148,919 residents are now fully vaccinated.
