The North Springs Little League 11U team capped off one of the most successful summers in league history by becoming the third team in the program to reach the State Tournament, highlighting a postseason that also featured four district championships and three state tournament appearances.
The 11U team capped off a memorable season by becoming the third North Springs squad to advance to the State Tournament. The team enjoyed an outstanding postseason run after outscoring opponents 30-8 to capture the District Championship. North Springs then earned back-to-back sectional victories, winning 4-3 and 3-2 to secure its place at the state tournament.
North Springs opened the Florida State Tournament with a thrilling 4-3 comeback victory over Dr. Phillips Little League. Trailing 3-0, North Springs scored the final four runs of the game, plating two in the third inning before adding one run in both the fourth and fifth.
Victor Garcia, Liam Budd, Benjamin Gutierrez and Noah Brea each drove in a run, while Jack Gardner tossed a complete game and did not allow an earned run to earn the victory.
North Springs then suffered a heartbreaking 7-6 loss to Lakewood Ranch Little League. After building a 6-1 lead, Lakewood Ranch rallied with six unanswered runs, including the game-winning three runs in the final inning.
Budd, Gutierrez, Liam Rose and Brea each recorded an RBI, while Cole Edgos pitched a complete game, allowing only three earned runs. North Springs’ tournament came to an end with a 16-0 loss to St. Mary’s Little League. Wyatt Zadrazil recorded the team’s lone hit in the contest.
The Intermediate (50/70) team earned a trip to states after defeating Parkland Little League to win the District Championship. Playing in Cutler Bay during sectionals, North Springs rallied for a 6-5 victory in the opener before clinching a 10-3 championship game win. At the State Tournament, the Juniors finished 1-2, earning their lone victory over Zephyrhills Little League.
The Juniors (13U) continued its dominant postseason run by capturing the District Championship, including a victory over Fort Lauderdale. North Springs then overwhelmed Doral in the Section Tournament, recording 10-0 and 17-0 victories to punch its ticket to the State Tournament. At states, the team defeated North Oakland Little League and Manatee West Little League before falling to Windermere Little League. Despite finishing with a 2-1 record and tying for first place, North Springs was eliminated on the runs-against tiebreaker.
North Springs also received strong performances from several other age groups. The 10U team advanced to the district tournament before falling to Fort Lauderdale, while the 12U squad was eliminated by Coconut Creek. The Seniors team reached the district championship game before finishing runner-up to Deerfield Beach.
The league’s youngest players also brought home hardware. The 8U team captured the District Championship by defeating Coconut Creek, Coral Springs American, Deerfield Beach and Parkland Little League, including an 11-5 victory over Parkland Little League in the championship game.
