
Coral Glades Boys Soccer Team. {David Volz}
A pair of soccer teams from Coral Springs have officially earned spots in the regional tournament following strong performances in their respective district competitions.
Coral Glades
The Coral Glades boys team advanced to the District Final before falling in a tightly contested 2–1 overtime loss to Marjory Stoneman Douglas. Jaden Lloyd scored the Jaguars’ lone goal in regulation, assisted by Theo Helman Domingues De Oliveira.
Coral Glades finished the regular season with a 9–6 record and entered the District Tournament as the No. 3 seed. The Jaguars opened postseason play with a dominant 6–1 victory over J.P. Taravella in the quarterfinals, then upset second-seeded Spanish River Community High School 3–1 in the semifinals. Their season record now stands at 9–7 following the district final loss.
The Jaguars earned the No. 6 seed in the regional tournament and will face Christopher Columbus High School on Friday, January 5, at 7 p.m. The Explorers are 13–4–5 this season and reached their district final after an 8–0 semifinal win over Goleman High School before falling 2–1 to Doral Academy.
The winner of the Coral Glades–Columbus matchup will advance to face either Doral Academy or Coral Reef High School. On the other side of the bracket, top-seeded Cypress Bay High School will play Wellington High School, while fourth-seeded Marjory Stoneman Douglas will take on Miami Palmetto High School.
Coral Springs Charter
The Coral Springs Charter girls’ team also qualified for regional play after a strong postseason run. The Panthers finished the regular season with a 14–3 record and defeated Calvary Christian Academy 2–0 in district competition before falling to Cardinal Gibbons High School.
In the regional tournament, the winner of that matchup will face either Cardinal Gibbons or Don Soffer Aventura. Other regional matchups include Pine Crest vs. Gulliver Prep and MAST Academy vs. Immaculate-La Salle.
