The high school volleyball season is officially underway in Coral Springs, with three teams recording their first win.
Coral Springs Charter began the season with a 25-13, 25-19, 25-16 win over American Heritage High School. Samantha McMillan led the team with 24 kills while Sydni Wilson and Jackie Racedo combined for 15. Olivia Greco had five assists as the team also shone defensively, with Hailey McMillan recording two blocks.
Kailey Michaelson and Mia Luersen each had six digs as the Panthers are coming off a season in which they went 10-8. They also include S, Kaila White, Keisha Julot, Isabelle Nilsson, Allison Pauley, Gabi Crepo, Angi Barrios, and Kailey Michaelson. The Panthers will playPompano beach High School on Monday, August 25 at 6 p.m.
Coral Glades beat Fort Lauderdale High School 25-18, 25-14, 16-25, 15-25, 15-13 in their first match and went on to play Coral Springs High School on Thursday, 25-21, 25-23, 25-19. Their team consists of Aurelia Contreras, Erin Dodd, May Ramos, Elizabeth Kaplan, Breanna Pardo, Sofia Fernandez, Isabella Alvarez, Malia Mohammed, Chrystal Carreras, Cataline Lopez, Kelsie Reid, Paolo Ramos, Madilyn Quintana, and Cara Miedema.
The Jaguars are 2-0 for the first time since 2021 and will play Everglades High School in their next game on Monday, August 25, at 4:30 p.m.
The Lady Colts feature Jaeliz Cruz, Zailei Ehrke, Ana Cordero, Daziyah Gilmore, Jasmin Caraballo, Mya Inoa, Stacey Luce, Savannah Jones, Kayhila Carmon, Gabriella Alonso, Christi Alonso, and Tatiana Hodge. They will play Northeast High School in their next game on Tuesday, August 26, at 4:30 p.m.
J.P. Taravella knocked off Dillard High School 25-7 25-7,25-15 behind nine kills from Camille Camper. Daniela Guarin added 16 aces, and Victoria Salcedo had 18 assists. The Trojans also feature Reshanaye Elliot, Taijah Taylor, Makayla Smith, Taylor Maffet, Victoria Salcedo, Destiny Richard, Sarah Strazzulla, Melissa Freeman, Reagan Session, and Gabriela Bradley.
JPT went 6-10 last year and will play South Broward High School in their next game on Monday, August 25, at 4:30 p.m.
