High School football is underway, with three teams competing in the Kickoff Classic this past week.
Coral Glades lost against Somerset Silver Palms High School in their first game. They are coming off a two-win season and will play Cooper City High School in their first regular season game on Friday, August 23, at 7 p.m. The Cowboys also had only two wins in their ten games a season ago.
Coral Springs Charter played American Heritage and fell 46-6. This was the first game for eighth-grade quarterback Ralph Diaz. The Panthers had several players graduate last season from a team that won four games. They will play NSU University on Thursday, August 22, at 6 p.m.The Sharks won 37-0 in the last matchup between these two teams.
J.P. Taravella lost against North Broward 34-0 after only one win last year. The Trojans will play Hollywood Hills High School in their next game on Friday, August 23, at 4 p.m. They beat Northeast High School 36-15 in their first game of 2024.
Coral Springs High School was off but will play its first game of the season against Palm Beach Lake High School in their first game on Friday, August 23, at 7 p.m. After going 5-5 last year, the Colts have a new coach this year with Anthony Wallace.
