Coral Springs had four varsity football teams hold their annual spring game, with only a few months left until the high school football season starts.
Coral Springs High School lost in their game against South Broward High School, though Head Coach Eddie Brown felt his team had already shown improvements from last season. The Colts won five games last year, including victories over Hollywood Hills, Northeast, Coral Glades, Olympic Heights, and J.P. Taravella. Their first game in 2024 is scheduled for August 23 at Palm Beach Lakes.
Coral Glades is set for a big season in year two under Head Coach Rocco Casullo. With a young team, the Jaguars played well but lost in a tight game against St. Brendan High School. The Jaguars beat J.P. Taravella for their only win and will play Cooper City High School in their first game on August 23.
The J.P. Taravella football team was shut out in their game against St. Brendan High School but headed into the new season with Clyde Parry as their coach. Despite the loss, Parry was pleased with his team’s effort and feels like they have a chance to have a bounce-back season after winning only one game in 2022 and 2023. JPT will open the season on August 23 against Everglades High School.
Coral Springs Charter also lost in its spring game. It will play Ramson Everglades in its first game on August 16. Last year, they went 4-6, following wins against J.P. Taravella, Northeast, Pompano Beach, and Tradition Prep.
