The Coral Springs and Parkland Fire Department want residents to help them fill their fire trucks with school supplies in order to help local students that can’t afford them.
The trucks were parked in front of the Walmart Turtle Run today and will be back again on Sunday where shoppers can stop by, help themselves to free Dunkin’ Donuts, get their face painted, pick up a free fire helmet, and listen to DJ Rob G.
“This is an event we do every year to try to give school supplies to the kids that are in need in Coral Springs, and we’re also taking donations for any amount of cash,” said Mike Matonak District President of Metro Broward Local 3080.
Residents can even buy supplies from any local store and drop it by between 10:00 a.m. and 5 p.m. and they will put it in the fire truck.
“We’ll divide them up among the local schools that need them,” said Matonak who wants residents to know that any amount is appreciated.
