Coral Springs Fire Department not only had the challenge of extinguishing an apartment fire on Friday afternoon, once inside, they had to navigate around large amounts of items that obstructed their ability to move around.
The department received a call from the leasing office of the Crescent Cove Crescent Cove Condominiums on 3207 Coral Lake Drive about a possible fire in the complex. According to Fire Division Chief Mike Moser, “When we got there we didn’t see anything, but the crews found a hot door and the smell of fire, then they forced the door down.”
Once it was determined no one was inside, they discovered there was so much storage items throughout the foyer area, that they had to find another way into the home. “The traditional rapid ways we normally do a search, was impeded by all of the items,” said Moser.
The crews had to force their way in through the window and discovered rooms full of more items. Once the fire was extinguished, items were still smoldering for hours. “We had to call additional resources because the smoldering took so long,” he said.
No other floors were affected and the cause of fire is under investigation.
