The City of Coral Springs wants to encourage good citizenship at a very early age by allowing local children to lead the Pledge of Allegiance at their City Commission meetings.
Not only do the children get this great honor, they will get their first lesson in civics by attending their first city commission meeting. They also get to be on Coral Springs TV, receive a really cool T-shirt, and have their photo taken with Mayor Skip Campbell.
The City wants to encourage parents to sign up their children up who attend elementary, middle, and high schools from public and private schools. Those who either live or attend Coral Springs’ schools are eligible to participate.
Commission meetings are held on the third Wednesday of each month at 6.30 p.m. and the spots will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis.
If your child is interested in participating, call Lydia Cutz at 954-344-1063 or email lcutz@coralsprings.org with the student’s name, school name, grade and the month they would like the student to participate.
