The Coral Springs girl’s soccer team had a tough year but picked up their biggest win of the season in the District Quarterfinals 2-1.
Freshman Hannah Lodwick scored both goals for their third win of the season as Head Coach Brantley Barr believed this was the best 80 minutes his team has played all season.
“Tonight was our most complete match of the season. We had many chances, but Deerfield was really defending hard,” said Barr. “We stayed patient, and Hannah scored two wonderful goals.”
Earlier this season, Coral Springs High School had struggled but had a solid win over South Plantation High School. Then three days later, they followed up with a win over Piper High School. In their opening game of the season. They also tied Nova High School 3-3.
Up next, Coral Springs High School will have a rematch against Marjory Stoneman Douglas in the District semifinals on Monday, February 3, at 6 p.m at a neutral playing site. These two teams met earlier this season with the Eagles winning 4-0.
The Colts have struggled in the previous three matchups outscored 18-0, but are a much different team than they were. Coach Barr knows going up against a program like Marjory Stoneman Douglas will be extremely tough and are the gold standard under Head Coach Laura Rountree, but won’t let their inexperience factor in.
