Coral Springs Police Bust Suspected Drug Dealer Carrying Debit Cards from Multiple Victims

Coral Springs Police busted a suspected drug dealer carrying a loaded pistol and several kinds of narcotics in his car, as well as debit cards belonging to multiple victims and checks made out to others worth more than $90,000, court records show.

Chad Louis Shimair Boyd, 25, of Coconut Creek, was pulled over Jan. 8 on Sample Road in Coral Springs—his Honda Accord traveling with just one operable headlight—but he failed to stop the car until he reached Margate, police said in an arrest affidavit.

Inside the Honda, police spotted a black Springfield Hellcat 9-millimeter handgun after learning Boyd had a suspended license, records show. According to the affidavit, officers said they believed Boyd had been trying to hide the pistol as he was being pulled over.

When police searched his car, they found over 100 grams of cannabis, some amphetamine pills, and a digital scale, all “indicative of a subject who sells/delivers [drugs],” the affidavit states.

Officers also said they found $110 in cash and an open bottle of cognac, as well as “various items consistent with fraud and identity theft.” Among them: 11 credit and debit cards belonging to 10 different victims, multiple pages of blank checks, and several checks written out to additional victims worth over $90,000, records show.

“CSPD economic crimes division will follow up in contacting the victims at a later time,” officers wrote.

Boyd was charged with multiple crimes, including firearm offenses, drug offenses, and possessing the personal information of five or more victims.

He was brought to the Broward Main Jail and released on a $5,000 bond, records show.
