A Coral Springs resident received a prestigious award.
Saba Moin, a second-grade teacher at Lloyd Estate Elementary in Oakland Park, was awarded the Fullbright Teachers for Global Classrooms award for best practices in international education.
In February, Moin and other recipients will travel to Washington, D.C., for a workshop on global education and then travel to other participating countries to create a global education guide that serves as a resource in each teacher’s local community. This education guide will allow teachers to share skills, experiences, and resources developed through the program.
Currently, Moin is teaching her students how water changed the earth and connecting this lesson with the storm surge from Hurricane Ian, and then globally, discussing the flooding in Pakistan.
“I hope to change a student’s mindset from thinking about either passing or failing to consider the bigger problem,” said Moin of the program.
Lessons taught in class will show students issues locally and then globally, asking them to find their perspective and what actions they would take. Classes will focus on pollution, poverty, recycling, and clean water.
Fulbright alums include 60 Nobel Prize Laureates, 89 Pulitzer Prize recipients, and 40 who have served as a head of state of government.

“Classes will focus on pollution, poverty, recycling, and clean water” all of which CS does not suffer from… she should teach them how government wastes tax dollars instead… These countries that have these problems generally suffer from corrupt governments
