For the fifth time this season, the Coral Springs Charter girls soccer team won 8-0 after defeating Don Soffer Aventura Charter  High School to pick up their tenth win of the season on Monday.
The Panthers scored seven goals in the first half, with Sophie Ribeiro recording a hat-trick. She now has ten goals this year, which is only behind Anna Mariano, who has 12. Lynnae Varkala, Maria Rojas, Danielle Mersch, Marissa Micioni, and Kathryn Shaggy all scored a goal.
For Shaggy, it was her first of the season, as the Panthers have now received goals from 17 different players this year. They also have outscored their opponents 59-9. This is the fourth straight season that the Panthers have won at least ten games. They have a record of 10-3-1 with only three games left.
Despite falling in a game against Archbishop McCarthy High School before the holiday break, Head Coach Kristin Grassi believes that was their strongest game this year and is happy to see the progress made with so many new players.
“I’m most proud of the fact that they continue to get better and continue to elevate their game,” said Grassi. “They have played their very best against the strongest competitors.”
Next, the Panthers will play Blanche Ely High School on Thursday, Jan. 12, at 5 p.m. The Tigers are 2-9 this year with victories over Coconut Creek and Deerfield Beach High School. CSC won 8-0 in the only meeting last year.
