Waterway Cleanup in Coral Springs {Roy Gold}

Don’t miss an opportunity to do something good for the community. Join the annual Waterway Cleanup in Riverside Park on Saturday, March 4, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The event is part of the Broward County Cleanup program, the county’s largest and longest-running environmental event where last year, more than 1,100 volunteers of all ages and 300 boats volunteered throughout 35 sites across Broward County to remove 25 tons of trash and debris from inland waterways.
Former Coral Springs Mayor Roy Gold is a Coral Springs site coordinator and has been part of the Waterway Clean Up program for over 25 years. He said the first cleanup in the 1990s brought together over 70 volunteers, and the city has been lucky to have many supporters for the program since.
“This is a great opportunity to take part in something that helps the entire community. It is also a chance to work alongside your friends and family on something that makes our city better,” Gold said.
He added that this year’s cleanup already has 40 registered participants, and the city hopes the event will have over one hundred volunteers. Participating students can receive community service hours.
“We all want to make a difference; this is your chance,” Gold said.
