“Amor Fati” is Latin for “love of fate” or “love of one’s fate”. It’s used to describe an attitude in which one sees everything that happens in one’s life – including suffering and loss – as good.
Washed Out’s new video for the Within And Without track “Amor Fati” is not only a hypnotizing song, but this well-photographed video which appears to follow a young man’s solo road trip through Iceland, makes it even more magical.
A beautiful song in the most stunning places in the world always makes a great combination. Plus, the guy in the video, who is known to be the songwriter Ernest Greene’s good friend Luke Rathborne, isn’t too hard on the eyes either.
Washed Out is the stage name of the American electronic musician Ernest Greene, 30, After earning an undergraduate degree from the The University of Georgia, Greene graduated in 2009 with a Master of Library and Information Science degree from theUniversity of South Carolina but was unable to find a job as a librarian. His style has been identified with the Chillwave movement. He has identified hip hop as influencing the way he writes songs.
Washed Out – Amor Fati
Don’t try, you’ll find
Was not your fault
The goal, reach out
The choice is yours to find
Design, you’ve got
The life to guide
Your faith decides
The world’s your goal to find
Relax, slow down
They’ll hope, design
Even though he’s hard to forgive
When you can’t just fall in love
Just to know your thoughts you know that
You’ll be all right in time
Design, you’ve got
Your life to guide
Your faith decides
The world’s your goal to find
Design, you’ve got
The life to guide
Your faith decides
The world’s your goal to find
