September is National Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and the Coral Springs Fraternal Order of Police is rallying to support the brave children battling this devastating disease.

The Coral Springs Fraternal Order of Coral Springs Lodge 87 will host a BE THE MATCH event to help children needing life-saving donations in their bouts against a cancer diagnosis — statistics show impact one in 285 children in the United States before their 20th birthday.

Lodge 87 invites residents to join the fight against childhood cancer by participating in a free cheek swab event that will take place at the Coral Springs Police Department’s community room, located at 2801 Coral Springs Drive, on Saturday, September 23, from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Individuals aged 18 to 40 are encouraged to visit the Coral Springs Police Department during the event hours to receive a free cheek swab kit that helps determine if participants are potential matches for children needing life-saving bone marrow or stem cell transplants.

In addition to those being swabbed to reveal if they are potential matches, Lodge 87 is also hoping to raise awareness about childhood cancer and inspire residents to take action in any way they can.

For more information about the event and the BE THE MATCH program, visit www.bethematch.org or contact the Coral Springs Fraternal Order of Police Lodge 87 at contact@coralspringsfop87.org.
