TAKA Karahi and Kabab Shut Down After Customer Complaint Sparks Inspection

State health and safety inspection reports show that TAKA Karahi and Kabab was ordered shut down last week after inspectors, following up on a customer complaint, uncovered 12 violations, including evidence of rodent activity.

According to the inspection report, health officials inspecting the restaurant located at 7881 West Sample Road found rodent droppings in the kitchen and storage areas. The findings included droppings by a kitchen refrigerator, under dry storage shelves, and droppings near cooking equipment on the cook line.

The report indicates the restaurant operator began sweeping and cleaning the affected areas during the inspection. Records show AKA was also shut down by inspectors in July of 2024 due to rodent infestation issues.

Other violations cited in the report included nonfood-contact surfaces that were heavily soiled with grease, food debris, dirt, and dust. Inspectors noted that the hood filters were coated in grease, and the walls behind the cooking equipment in the kitchen were soiled with food debris, a repeat violation.

Additionally, inspectors reported improper food storage practices, including raw chicken stored over ready-to-eat sauce in the walk-in cooler, posing a cross-contamination risk.

The restaurant will be required to correct all violations before reopening.
