Ramblewood Middle School is gearing up to make its first move as host of the Chess4Life Tournament on Saturday, November 8, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Held at 8505 W. Atlantic Blvd., the event will welcome students, families, and chess enthusiasts from across Broward County for a full day of friendly competition and community engagement.
The school’s Parent Teacher Organization, led by PTO President Rosaura Cruz, is taking an active role in the event. The PTO will operate the concession stand inside the gym, where waiting families can enjoy snacks and refreshments. Decorations will feature a creative touch from Lopdi Balloons, whose team generously donated the colorful chess-themed décor.
“Our Principal Kirk hopes this will bring more exposure to our school,” said Cruz. “It’s a wonderful way to showcase our school spirit while raising funds to support Fun Fridays, Perfect Attendance rewards, and other incentives that benefit our students and families in need.”
The National Junior Honor Society, headed by Mrs. Walsh, will have student volunteers on hand to greet guests and guide them throughout the campus. Meanwhile, Coach Paradis and the journalism students will capture photos and document highlights from the tournament.
The Chess4Life Tournament, part of the Broward County Public Schools Applied Learning Program, promotes critical thinking, focus, and sportsmanship among students.
