The Coral Springs Police Department will conduct periodic work zone safety operations citywide from Dec. 29, 2025, through Sept. 30, 2026, aimed at protecting construction workers, pedestrians, and motorists.
In cooperation with the Florida Department of Transportation, officers from the Coral Springs Police Department Traffic Unit will be assigned in and around posted work zones to ensure drivers follow safety signs and detours. Uniformed officers will educate motorists on safe driving practices and issue citations to those who fail to comply with state statutes.
Police said the operations are designed to improve safety within active construction areas and reduce vehicle and pedestrian crashes.
Work zones can include workers, vehicles, trucks, and equipment, often requiring lane closures, detours, and moving machinery. Projects may last from a few days to several years. While work zone fatalities account for about 3 percent of overall traffic fatalities and 2 percent of serious injuries, officials said maintaining the safe and efficient flow of traffic through these areas remains a priority for Florida’s transportation and traffic safety partners.
The Coral Springs Police Department and FDOT urged drivers to do their part by slowing down, staying alert, and obeying posted signs to help create a safer environment for crews working on the roadway.
