
Coral Springs Charter Boys Soccer. {David Volz}
Heading into the final week of games before the holiday break, several local soccer teams faced off against J.P. Taravella and Coral Springs Charter in a busy stretch of competition.
Boys Soccer
The boys’ matchup ended scoreless, finishing with a 0-0 draw. Despite the tie, the Trojans continued a strong season, entering the game having won three straight. They now sit at 8-1-3, with their lone loss coming against Pembroke Pines Charter in their second game of the year.
The Panthers moved to 4-3-3 on the season. They most recently suffered a 2-0 loss to Founders Classical, following wins over Pine Crest, Calvary Christian, Saint Andrew’s School, and Stranahan High School. The Panthers will next face Coral Glades on January 6.
The Jaguars hold a 7-3 record and are ranked 72nd in the state. They fell earlier in the week to 47th-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas High School but bounced back with a 3-1 win over Fort Lauderdale High School and a dominant 7-2 victory over North Broward Prep on Thursday.
Coral Springs High School is 5-2-1 this season. The Colts defeated Boyd H. Anderson High School 2-1 on Monday before playing to a 0-0 draw against Piper High School in their most recent match. Among their wins this season are victories over Coral Springs Charter, South Plantation, Flanagan, and Hallandale High School.
Girls Soccer
On the girls’ side, Coral Springs Charter recorded its most significant win of the season with a 9-0 victory, improving to 5-2-1. The Trojans dropped to 0-5-1 on the year. The Panthers will also take on Coral Glades on January 6 at 5 p.m.
The Jaguars are now 6-5-1 after a loss to North Broward Prep, but have earned wins this season over David Posnack Jewish Day School, Flanagan, South Broward, Pompano Beach, Piper, and Fort Lauderdale High School.
Coral Springs High School also earned a win, defeating Boyd H. Anderson High School 3-0 for its second victory of the season. Their first win came against Hallandale High School, and they played to a 2-2 draw on Wednesday night.
