The 15th Annual Meggan Morency Wild West Night raised more than $60,000 for Bit By Bit Medical Therapeutic Riding Center.
The Wild West Night event, held January 31 at Ron Bergeron’s Green Glades Ranch in Weston, honored the life of Meggan Morency, an accomplished equestrian who tragically passed away in 2003. In the years since, her family has created a lasting legacy that reflects her love of horses and generous spirit, with the annual Wild West Night benefiting Bit By Bit, a Davie-based nonprofit serving children with disabilities and veterans through equine therapy.
Leading this year’s fundraising efforts was Michael Citron of Coral Springs-based Parrot Realty, who has sponsored the event for several years. He tells Coral Springs Talk the relationship was formed by chance, but the bond over preserving Meggan’s legacy has stood the test of time.
“In 2003, Meggan Morency tragically passed away in an equestrian accident, then four years ago I had the opportunity to sell her father Bob Morency’s home in Cypress Head,” Citron told Coral Springs Talk, “Through that experience, Bob and I built a relationship and have stayed in touch over the years.”
Citron said that through his connection with the Morency family and his ongoing involvement with the event, the cause became deeply personal.
“I have been sponsoring the Wild West event for several years and attend annually with my staff and family. That is how I learned about Bit By Bit and the incredible therapeutic work they do for children with disabilities and veterans. Over time, the cause became deeply personal to me.”
This year marked the 15th annual event, which has consistently raised thousands of dollars to support the organization’s programs. Citron was recently asked to join the event committee to help bring new ideas to increase fundraising efforts for the milestone year.
“I have visited Bit By Bit and seen firsthand the life-changing work they do,” Citron said. “It is special because it brings the community together for a meaningful cause while honoring Meggan’s memory and directly impacting families in our area.”
Determined to make the 15th anniversary a record-breaking year, Parrot Realty set an ambitious goal: raise $60,000.
“Together with my marketing director, Eitan Abramowitz, we developed a comprehensive digital and print campaign promoting a special raffle.”
The grand prize was a gold Rolex valued at $60,000. Through targeted outreach, digital marketing, and community engagement, including collaboration with South Florida influencer Ziv the Watch Guy, the campaign generated significant buzz.
Ticket sales for the raffle alone reached $60,000, hitting the fundraising goal. The lucky winner recently stopped by Parrot Realty’s office to collect the coveted timepiece.
“The Rolex giveaway was special for many reasons,” Citron said. “Personally, I am a watch enthusiast, and so is my marketing director, Eitan. We knew Ziv the Watch Guy and reached out to him about partnering with us. He immediately connected with Bit By Bit’s mission and did not hesitate to join the cause. The reaction was incredible both online and at the event. It created energy, urgency, and community-wide participation.”
For those unfamiliar with Bit By Bit’s mission, the organization offers a specialized therapeutic approach called hippotherapy. Licensed physical, occupational, and speech therapists use the natural movement of horses as part of clinical treatment.
“Funds raised from Wild West Night directly support the care and training of therapy horses, licensed professionals, facility maintenance, and expanded access to programs for families who might not otherwise be able to afford this life-changing therapy,” Citron said. “Every dollar raised helps provide hope, healing, and measurable progress for the individuals they serve.”
Philanthropy has long been part of Parrot Realty’s mission. Last year, the company raised $10,000 for SOS Children’s Village. This year’s $60,000 milestone reflects an expansion of that commitment.
“It is important to lead not only in business but also in service,” said Citron. “We are excited to continue expanding our creative philanthropic efforts and finding new ways to support those in need in the community we care about so deeply. Giving back will always be part of who we are.”
