Talk Media journalist Kevin Deutsch is taking his reporting beyond the Broward beat and into the national conversation, recently appearing on two prominent podcasts to discuss his work covering Jewish communities and the shifting media landscape since the October 7 terrorist attacks on Israel.
Deutsch, who covers general assignment news and Jewish communities for Talk Media’s award-winning local news sites, joined antisemitism scholar Dr. Naya Lekht on her show “Don’t Know Much About” for an in-depth discussion about the erosion of neutrality in legacy media and the corresponding explosion of anti-Zionism across American public life.
He also sat down with Jewish influencer and sexologist Dr. Logan Levkoff on her show “The Sexy Side of Zionism,” streaming on the Israeli platform Izzy, for what Levkoff described as a “powerful conversation on the rise of antisemitism and the urgent need for resilience and self-defense within the Jewish community.”
On Lekht’s program, Deutsch reflected on his experiences working as a Jewish, pro-Israel reporter at The Miami Herald, Palm Beach Post, and New York Daily News, among other newspapers. He told Lekht about the moment he believes fundamentally altered American journalism: the police killing of George Floyd in May 2020. Between the social upheaval surrounding the Black Lives Matter movement and the COVID-19 pandemic, he argued, the profession underwent a profound shift in priorities, language, and moral framing — a trend that continues today.
Deutsch and Lekht also discussed the speed with which anti-Zionist bigotry spread across city streets, college campuses, and government agencies after October 7, when Deutsch began documenting the rising hatred through his reporting for Talk Media and his Jewish watchdog news Substack, “After October 7.”
The conversation focused on what Deutsch sees as an abandonment of journalistic objectivity in the mainstream press and why that erosion matters now more than ever, particularly for American Jewish communities navigating unprecedented hostility. Deutsch, who also writes for the Kansas City Jewish Chronicle and the St. Louis Jewish Light and previously served as a senior staff writer at The Miami Times, a historic Black newspaper in Miami, described the responsibility he feels to report clearly on the racism Jews are experiencing during a period of political and cultural volatility.
One striking example covered by Deutsch locally for Talk Media: Parkland quilter AJ Grossman’s powerful work commemorating the October 7 hostages — featuring 140 Stars of David — being rejected by QuiltCon 2026, despite its winning acclaim in the South Florida arts world. He also discussed his coverage for Coral Springs Talk about a controversy involving concerns over anti-Jewish and anti-Israel bigotry linked to a Muslim community conference held in the city’s taxpayer-funded arts center.

Talk Media journalist Kevin Deutsch recently appeared on Dr. Logan Levkoff’s show “The Sexy Side of Zionism.”
On Levkoff’s “The Sexy Side of Zionism,” the discussion broadened to the power of language itself. Together, Levkoff and Deutsch examined how terminology shapes public understanding of antisemitism, unpacked what anti-Zionism truly means, and addressed what they characterized as challenges and failures within mainstream media coverage of Israel and Jewish life.
Levkoff framed the episode as “honest and incisive,” emphasizing the importance of maintaining clarity and courage in a rapidly changing media landscape.
The national interest in Talk Media’s coverage shows how independent local reporting has become essential to American communities left uncovered by struggling legacy media outlets.
In both appearances, Deutsch positioned his work as part of a larger effort to document a historic moment in Jewish American life, one in which media narratives are impacting communities and institutions in unprecedented ways.
Deutsch will speak next on Thursday about Jewish American community issues at an event organized by the group Iowans Supporting Israel.
