The Coral Springs Museum of Art will host a special Haitian Heritage Exhibit opening reception on Thursday, May 7, inviting residents to explore culture, creativity, and community through art.
The free event, scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. at the museum, 2855 Coral Springs Drive, marks the debut of “Continuum: Heritage & Expression,” the inaugural exhibition of the Haitian Women Fine Art Collective (HAWFA).
The exhibit highlights a collective of artists connected through Haitian culture, showcasing works that reflect identity, heritage, and artistic expression. The reception will also feature light bites, with beverages available for purchase inside the museum’s main gallery.
In addition to celebrating Haitian Heritage Month, the evening will include a tribute honoring the life and legacy of Vice Mayor Nancy Metayer. City leaders and artists are expected to share remarks, and attendees will have the opportunity to participate in a commemorative ribbon art activity.
The exhibition will remain on display in the Center for the Arts Lobby Hall Gallery through May 29, giving visitors several weeks to experience the artwork.
Haitian Heritage Month is observed each May, recognizing the rich culture, history, and contributions of Haitian people and the diaspora through events and exhibitions across South Florida.
The opening reception is free and open to the public. For more information, residents can contact the museum at 954-340-5000 or visit the Coral Springs Museum of Art.
