Coral Springs Man Accused of Repeatedly Molesting 11-Year-Old

A Coral Springs man accused of repeatedly molesting an 11-year-old over a period of years was arrested by the Coral Springs Police Department.

According to Coral Springs Police Department records, Henry Joseph Kardys Jr., 79, faces six counts of lewd or lascivious molestation involving a victim younger than 12. Investigators said the allegations surfaced after the girl told a family member that Kardys had been touching her inappropriately.

The most recent alleged incident occurred September 26 inside the girl’s bedroom, according to police.

Investigators said the girl’s father learned of the allegations while at work and returned home to review footage from a motion-activated security camera in the bedroom. Police said the footage showed Kardys entering the room, sitting on the girl’s bed and asking her to sit next to him before touching her inappropriately.

The father later confronted Kardys through text messages and told him there were cameras inside the home, police said.

According to investigators, Kardys responded, “I’m sorry I fucked up,” apologized, and said it would not happen again. He also allegedly asked the family to forgive him.

Coral Springs detectives interviewed the girl, who was 11 at the time. She told investigators Kardys had touched her breasts and genital area, including underneath her clothing, and said the behavior had been occurring since she was approximately 9 years old.

The girl estimated Kardys had touched her inappropriately between 10 and 15 times, police said.

Investigators also reviewed text messages the girl sent to a relative shortly after the September 26 incident. Police said the messages were sent before law enforcement became involved and matched what the girl later told detectives.

Detectives obtained the memory card from the bedroom security camera and reviewed several videos recorded around the time of the latest alleged incident.

Police said the footage corroborated significant portions of the girl’s account, including Kardys directing her to sit beside him and on his lap and touching her breasts and genital area. Investigators said the girl appeared visibly uncomfortable and seemed to be crying during portions of the video.

Based on interviews, electronic communications, and the security footage, investigators determined there was probable cause to charge Kardys. Investigators arrested him on October 1 and transported him to the Broward County Main Jail.
