Sawgrass Springs Middle School Attend Wheelabrator’s Symposium for Environment and Education

150 Future environmental leaders from 15 middle schools across Florida, New England and the Mid-Atlantic presented their six-month long sustainability projects as part of the 20th anniversary Wheelabrator Symposium for Environment and Education in Sunrise on May 6.
Among them were 10 students from Sawgrass Springs Middle School in Coral Springs, who shared their work to reduce plastic pollution in oceans.
The Sawgrass Springs team, who refer to themselves as the “Plastic Police,” presented its project and research-based solutions to peers and a panel of partners comprised of educators and environmental experts at the annual Wheelabrator Symposium. The students were awarded the “Outstanding Community Education Campaign” award at the Symposium.
