Massimo and Ginseng {Broward County Animal Care}
Two longtime shelter residents at Broward County Animal Care are hoping to find permanent homes as they continue waiting for adoption.
Massimo (A2460782), a 5-year-old neutered Mastiff mix weighing 68 pounds, arrived at the shelter on Jan. 2 as a stray and has been waiting more than four months for a family. Shelter staff describes the brown-and-white dog as sweet and friendly, even though he was initially fearful upon arrival.
Massimo enjoys attention, being pet, and playing fetch when comfortable. He walks well on a leash and appears to be housebroken. Staff said he would make a good companion for a family seeking a calm, relaxed pet.
Massimo is already neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped, and can go home the same day with an approved adoption. Adopters are only required to pay the $25 Broward County pet registration fee.
Also available for adoption is Ginseng (A2475103), a 6-year-old neutered domestic shorthair cat weighing 10 pounds.
The orange cat was surrendered to the shelter in April after his previous owner reportedly had too many pets. Staff describes Ginseng as warm, friendly, and affectionate, especially when treats are involved.
“He’s a total treat monster,” shelter staff said, noting there is virtually no treat he does not enjoy.
Ginseng is also neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped and is available for same-day adoption.
Broward County Animal Care is located at 2400 SW 42nd St. in Fort Lauderdale and is open daily for pet adoptions from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
All pets adopted from the shelter are spayed or neutered, vaccinated, and microchipped. More information about available animals is available at PetAdoptions.Broward.org.
