Rain, sleet, or shine, there will always be at least one man grilling, and in Coral Springs, that’s Captain Ron.
Originally from Long Island, NY, Ron Dimpflmaier, 52, moved to Shadow Wood in 1991, seeking warmer pastures. As a lifelong foodie, Ron’s interest in becoming a barbeque professional grew, and over the last six years, his grill skills and social media following have exploded.
“I’m just a backyard barbeque guy posting pictures,” said Ron, who has amassed over 21,000 Instagram followers, and several cooking championships under his belt.
Ron loves what he does, is sponsored by large grilling companies like Big Green Egg, and tours in multiple states performing demonstrations.
A true man of his craft, when asked what he loves most about the food, he says the grillwork, fire management, the smoking, and preparation get him fired up. The Captain means grilling business.
Recently attending an invite-only open fire cooking event in San Antonio, Ron smoked alligator, rattlesnakes, pork, lamb, and pork belly. For the inquiring mind, he said most wild meats more or less taste like chicken.
A humble man, he’d never self proclaim the title of ‘Pit Master,’ one who has mastered all forms of barbeque — but loves to learn and cook up meals for happy faces.
Those who love succulent steaks, professional barbeque tips, and infectious smiles look no further than Captain’s Instagram and YouTube pages to savor the savory. He is also a contributing writer for Grillgirl.com as their resident ‘Big Green Egg Eggspert.’
