After an incredible run with the Coral Springs Charter baseball team, Head Coach Charlie Fine is headed to West Boca Raton Community High School.
Fine has taken on the role of assistant athletic director and will be coaching with CSC Hall-of-Famer, Jerry Albert.
Albert said when he decided to return to the Athletic Director role, he needed to find a strong group around him and felt that Fine had excellent organizational skills, a professional demeanor, a high level of intelligence, and, most importantly: loyalty.
“Charlie was a very upbeat, positive kid in high school, and as a young professional, he has expanded on those qualities,” Albert said. “Everyone loves Charlie, and even when he has been thrown into the fire in dealing with some tough situations, he is unquestionably respected and appreciated by everyone for his calm and professional responses and reactions.”
He added, “Not only does it feel good having former players as part of the staff, but from a trust standpoint, I know when we set up drills where these guys have to instruct and lead, that it will be done just how we want it done. Plus, they are guys that can relate things to the current players because they were in their shoes not that long ago.”
Fine was called up to varsity in eighth grade and played four more years of varsity baseball at CSC. He had been the head coach of the Panthers for five years and made three straight appearances in Regionals. Fine also won back-t0-back Coach of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022. CSC graduate Chris Farrell will be coming with Fine from Charter, where they have coached together for the past five years.
“It’s not often you get a chance to play and coach at your alma mater, and I had the chance to do that,” said Fine. “I will definitely miss the incredible CSC atmosphere and wish the best for Coach Boling and Coach Scott.”
He will be joining a team that went 18-11 this past season and has not had a losing season since 2017. Fine is also excited to get the season going, which is set to start the later this month. He leaves CSC with 49 wins ranking second all-time in school history, trailing only Albert.
