The Coral Springs Charter wrestling team hosted the district championship on January 8 and finished second.
Elijah Perez was 2-0 with two pins, and Zayne Yawar went 2-0 with two pins. Cristofer Carbajal, Andrew Ridge, and Michael Streder each finished 2-1.
Coach Eric Perez was pleased with the team’s performance and is looking forward to the Coral Springs Duals on January 9-10 at Coral Springs High School.
“Last season we lost to Jupiter Christian in the first round, and this year we got our revenge and beat them 60 to 24,” said Perez.
In the semi-finals, Charter defeated last season’s district champion Lincoln Park and won 54 to 28. The team lost to Kings Academy in the finals.
