The Coral Springs Charter wrestling team competed in the Bobby Stanley Duals on December 29-30 at Cardinal Gibbons High School.
Over the two days, the Panthers posted a 5-5 record in the team competition, defeating Cooper City, Monarch, and Spanish River, and earning two victories over Dr. Krop.
The team placed third in the bronze pool, according to Coach Eric Perez.
There were some strong individual performances: Elijah Perez, 150 pounds, was 7-0; Cristofer Carbajal, 106 pounds, was 8-2; Brandon Hankerson, 285 pounds, was 7-3; and Zayne Yawar, 138 pounds, was 5-0. He did not compete on Tuesday because of illness.
“I am proud of the team’s overall performance, and we will continue to improve,” said Perez.
The Panthers will compete at Deerfield Beach High on January 7 and then host a district dual tournament on January 8. The team will compete in a tournament at Coral Springs High School on January 9-10.
