Jordan Marquees Thompson {BSO}
A Coral Springs teen was arrested after police say he participated in a pepper-spray robbery targeting a man who was attempting to sell designer cologne through an online marketplace.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest affidavit, Jordan Marquees Thompson, 18, of Coral Springs, was taken into custody on December 23 after an armed robbery was reported near the 3700 block of Turtle Run Boulevard.
Police say the victim had arranged to sell a bottle of Baccarat Rouge 540 cologne for $80 and met with multiple men at the location. While showing them the cologne, the victim handed one of the suspects his phone so the suspect could enter the Cash App information.
Investigators say that during that moment, the victim was pepper-sprayed in the eyes, preventing him from seeing clearly as the suspects grabbed the cologne from his scooter’s storage compartment and fled on foot.
A witness in the area contacted police as the suspects attempted to escape. Officers learned the group had ordered an Uber to pick them up across the street near Tall Cypress Park.
According to the police report, the Uber driver became suspicious after the suspects entered the vehicle, told him to “go, go,” and ducked down in their seats. The driver refused to continue the ride, ordered them out of the vehicle, and later identified them to the police.
Responding officers received a suspect description of a black male running westbound on West Sample Road. An officer spotted a subject matching that description, and the man was later identified as Thompson.
Two additional suspects were identified, including a minor.
Thompson was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was later released after posting a $5,000 bond.
