Come Out and “Meat the Chief” and the members of the Coral Springs Police Department.

Every police department likes to say they exist to Protect and Serve; however, Coral Springs Police wants to serve its citizens differently: with Meat, Chicken, Pulled Pork, or Brisket, along with two sides and a drink.

Chief Bradley McKeone hopes the “Meat The Chief” event will bring his department and officers closer to the community they serve.

On Saturday, February 4, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m., at 2801 Coral Springs Drive, McKeone and staff will trade in their uniforms and weapons for aprons and cooking utensils.

“Relationships in life are so important,” said McKeone. “A positive relationship between our police department and the community it protects and serves is vital to our success. My hope is that we strengthen the relationships we already have and that we can establish new ones with others during this event.”

The department wants the public to prepare for a delicious evening supporting a great cause and a chance to “meat” its members.

“I love to BBQ in my spare time, which isn’t too often, unfortunately. This is a way for me to put a personal touch on an event and hopefully share some good food.”

Getting to know the newly appointed Chief is also part of the plan of this unique event.

My family ran the concession stands at Mullins Park for many years. When I was in college, I was a cook at Roadhouse Grill on University Drive in Coral Springs. Seeing someone enjoy a meal I have prepared gives you a special feeling. When it brings people together, it is even better,” he said.

Tickets are $10, and all proceeds go to funding the new Public Safety Memorial Garden. Buy your tickets here: coralsprings/3CKRv5h.

“I truly believe the City of Coral Springs is a special place to live,” he told Coral Springs Talk. “Although we have grown from a small town to a city, it always amazes me how everyone is connected in some way. So please come out and enjoy some good food and spend some time with the men and women who protect and serve the community.”
