The Coral Springs Charter boys’ and girls’ swim teams performed well at the 2A District Championship on October 22 at the Pompano Beach Aquatics Center.
The girls’ team placed third with 303.5 points, and the boys’ team placed fourth with 247 points.
Coach Sheri Wells-Smith said she was very proud of the team and their efforts. “We had many swimmers who took first and second place in their events,” said Wells-Smith.
This automatically advances those who take first and second to the regionals, which takes place Saturday, November 1st, at Gulliver Prep in Miami, according to Wells-Smith.
Top performers included Brian Hamilton, who won the 50- and 100-meter freestyle; Anthony Palumbo, who won first place in the 100-meter backstroke; John Albornoz, who won the 200-meter IM; and Mariana Montes, who tied for first in the 100-meter backstroke.
