A Message from Coral Springs Chief Clyde Parry
February brings us Black History Month, when we celebrate the contributions and achievements of African Americans throughout American history.
During this time of year, many of us think about civil rights leaders like MLK or Rosa Parks. Others think about sports icons like Jackie Robinson and Jim Brown. Maybe you think of political leaders like President Barrack Obama, Colin Powell, or Condoleezza Rice.
There are so many African Americans who left their mark on our great nation that I could go on and on. Sadly, many great Americans are not household names, so I thought I would give you a little homework assignment. If you are up for it, research these folks. You will learn more about African American History and enjoy their fascinating stories.

February 15 is President’s Day, when we recognize all of our American Presidents. This is a good time to reflect on our Nation’s history and the many leaders who led our Nation through good times and bad. Our country seems to be very divided, and we may not agree with, or voted for, our last or current President, but I hope we all can agree that it is a tough job.
I always want our President to be successful because I want our country to be successful. I wish President Biden much success in the coming term.
Our first responders were invited to attend a drive-through breakfast on February 12 at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School. This annual event marks the tragedy that occurred on February 14, 2018. This event usually provides first responders with the opportunity to meet with victims, families, and students.
Although COVID-19 has forced this event to be less interactive, it is greatly appreciated by all the members of our department. I continue to be inspired by the victims of this tragedy as they work together to make our community a better and safer place. The kindness and compassion showed to our department mean the world to us, and we can’t thank you enough.
Our department continues to support our City’s efforts to roll out COVID-19 vaccines. We are currently running a vaccine site at the Coral Square Mall that has been operating smoothly. Please note that you MUST have a reservation, a valid Florida ID, and you MUST be over 65 years of age. You can make a reservation at www.browardcovidvaccine.com. Please note when all appointments are filled, the site goes dormant until more reservations are available, so keep checking the site. We also have started a mobile vaccine program that is going to our assisted living facilities to assist in the vaccination of our citizens over 65 years of age.
Please stay connected to our department through Facebook, Twitter @CoralSpringsPolice, and NextDoor.com to learn about crime trends, upcoming events, road closures, and other information affecting our community. If you have not already, please connect with me on Facebook.
One Team, One Mission.
