Gyano Dulcio and Deja Angelik White {BSO}
A dispute over a job at Red Lobster turned violent outside a Coral Springs Chili’s, leading to a high-speed race to the Coral Springs Police Department and the arrests of both drivers, police said.
According to a Coral Springs Police Department arrest report, Deja Angelik White, 39, of Coral Springs, was arrested on charges of domestic battery and criminal mischief causing more than $1,000 in damage. Officers also arrested Gyano Dulcio, 44, of Coral Springs, following the investigation.
According to both arrest affidavits, officers were dispatched to the police station on May 30 after the pair arrived there following a dispute that began at Chili’s, located at 1650 North University Drive.
Investigators said Dulcio told police he had invited White, his former partner and coworker at Red Lobster, to meet and discuss her resignation from the restaurant. The conversation reportedly moved outside into the parking lot, where the argument got physical.
Dulcio told officers he attempted to walk away from the confrontation but felt water thrown at him. Concerned White might damage his vehicle, he headed toward his car instead of returning inside the restaurant, according to the report. He alleged White then struck him multiple times in the head with a cellphone.
White allegedly blocked Dulcio’s vehicle, threw a water-filled Hydro Flask toward it, grabbed his shirt and chain, tearing the shirt and breaking the chain. Investigators said White then entered Dulcio’s vehicle and refused repeated requests to get out.
According to the affidavit, Dulcio then got into White’s vehicle and told her he was driving to the Coral Springs Police Department. While en route, he reported that White repeatedly attempted to cut him off with her vehicle, nearly causing both vehicles to crash on the way to the station.
White told investigators that Dulcio had provoked the incident by taking her cellphone. She admitted throwing water, pulling on his shirt, and entering his vehicle to retrieve her phone, according to the report.
Because of the conflicting accounts and injuries observed, police ultimately arrested both individuals.
Investigators noted that Chili’s management advised that there was no surveillance footage available of the incident.
Both White and Dulcio were transported to the Broward County Main Jail.
