Whether on the field or off, the Coral Glades baseball team strives for success in its community.
While they are currently 11-4 this year, the Jaguars made their mark this week by helping at Westchester Elementary School. The team, which features 15 of the 20 players as underclassmen, cleaned up areas around the campus, mulched, gardened, and planted flowers.
Head coach Joe Franco says the team does a community outreach program every year and says success is more than just winning on the field.
“For the boys to give back to their community is something special,” Franco said. “Being a high school baseball player isn’t just about winning games. It’s about developing as a person off of the field as well. To take time out of their day to help our community means so much to me as their coach.”
The Jaguars are heading to spring break but will remain on the field next week. They will face the reigning State Champions in North Broward Prep on Tuesday, March 25, at 6 p.m.
