
Coral Glades Boys Basketball Team. {Athletics}
The basketball season shifted into Regional play with three teams in action, and one advancing to the Regional Semifinals.
The Coral Glades boys basketball team earned a 77–53 victory over West Broward High School. The win marked the Jaguars’ 21st of the season and came shortly after capturing another District Championship.
Coral Glades will now face Miami Palmetto Senior High School in the Regional Semifinals on Saturday, February 21, at 7 p.m. The Panthers enter the matchup with a 23–5 record and are ranked among the top 15 teams in the state. Miami Palmetto defeated South Dade and Coral Gables High School on its way to a District Championship earlier this season before knocking off Coral Gables again in the opening round of Regionals. Coral Glades won 56-53 in their playoff game last season.
The Coral Springs High School girls’ basketball team earned the No. 5 seed and faced Mater Lakes Academy in the Regional playoffs. The Lady Colts trailed by four late in the first half but used a quick 4–0 run to cut the deficit to one at halftime. Mater Lakes, however, opened the second half on an 11–2 run to take control and went on to win 58–32.
Coral Springs finished the season with a 9–5 record after winning eight games during the regular season. The Lady Colts defeated Coral Park before falling to St. Thomas Aquinas High School in the District Championship Game. Key contributors this season included Niqueaha Cross, Janyah Holmes, and Janelle Swaby.
The Coral Springs High School boys basketball team entered Regionals as the fourth seed but fell to Boyd H. Anderson High School, 99–83. The Colts finished the season with a 19–9 record after winning two games during District Championship play. The senior class featured Craig Bryant Jr., Jamir Davis, Alejandro Osorio, Matt Croissy, and Josiah Davis.
