The Coral Glades football team’s gutsy call paid off on Monday night in their 15-14 win over Hallandale High School.
This game, initially scheduled for earlier this month, was postponed by 10 days, forcing the Jaguars to play three games in seven days. However, the Jaguars went on to win a game in which they allowed a touchdown in the final minute after AJ Caseus returned a kickoff for a touchdown. Rather than tying the game with an extra point, Coral Glades went for two and converted to go ahead 15-14. They held on for the win to improve to 3-3 this year. Earlier in the game, Caseus picked off a pass and returned for a touchdown.
Next, Coral Glades will play Marjory Stoneman Douglas on Friday, October 3, at 7 PM. The Eagles are 2-3 this year, following wins over Cooper City and Boyd Anderson High School, while losing to Cypress Bay, Deerfield Beach, and Boca Raton Community High School. Coral Glades won 21-14 in the lone meeting a season ago.
Coral Glades also had its junior varsity team win a thriller against Marjory Stoneman Douglas. After falling in their first game against Cooper City High School, the Jaguars came back from two touchdowns down to knock off the Eagles 14-13. Landon Weinstock hit Christian Curles with the game-winning touchdown before Coral Glades was scheduled to play Coral Springs High School on Tuesday night, but the game was postponed.
