High school baseball teams in Coral Springs returned from spring break with several notable performances, highlighted by a rivalry showdown between Coral Glades and Coral Springs High School on Wednesday night.
Despite the Colts jumping out to an early lead, the Jaguars answered with two runs in the fourth inning and held on for a 2-1 victory. Charlie Beatty earned the win with five strong innings, while Logan. Miller secured the save with two scoreless frames. Jason Lincoln delivered an RBI triple, and Zack Krey also drove in a run.
Ryan Guthrie accounted for the lone run for CSHS, who had the tying run thrown out at the plate to end the game. The Jaguars improved to 13-6 and will face the Cypress Bay High School baseball team on Thursday, March 26, at 5:30 p.m. CSGS now sits at 12-5 and will take on the St. John Paul II Academy baseball team on Friday, March 27, at 7 p.m.
Meanwhile, Coral Springs Charter picked up a 6-2 win over West Boca Raton High School using a five-run third inning to break a 1-1 tie. Nolan Mianowski led the way with four RBIs, including a home run and a double, while also pitching two innings to close out the win. Mateo Guzman tossed five innings without allowing an earned run to earn the victory. West Boca threatened late by loading the bases in the final inning, but the game ended on a flyout to left field. CSC earned its sixth win and will next play the Boca Raton Community High School baseball team on Friday, March 27, at 6:30 p.m.
J. P. Taravella fell to 10-9 following a 5-1 loss to the American Heritage High School baseball team. The Trojans scored their lone run in the bottom of the seventh on an RBI from Jeremiah McFarlane. Jack Almeida, Aaron Rocker, and Jose Hernandez all saw time on the mound. Taravella will look to bounce back against The First Academy baseball team on Thursday, March 26, at 6:30 p.m.
Parkridge Christian Academy earned its second varsity win with an 8-3 victory over the David Posnack Jewish Day School baseball team. The Panthers, who also defeated the Sheridan Hills Christian School baseball team earlier this month in their first-ever varsity game, will take on the Deerfield Beach High School baseball team on Tuesday, March 31, at 6:30 p.m.
