It was a special night for both the Coral Springs Charter boys and girls soccer team with all of the seniors being honored.
Girls Team
For the sixth time this season, the Coral Springs Charter girls team was involved in a one-goal game, and for the fifth time, they came out on top.
The Panthers won their 14th game of the season following a 4-3 victory over Charles W. Flanagan High School as Kelsey Dunne, Emily Kahler, Erin Dunne, Marissa Marill, Sabrina Basso, Sophia Papaleo and Madison Micioni were all honored for their contributions throughout their varsity career.
Offensively, Anna Mariano recorded a hat trick while Basso scored one. Kahler, Emily Dunne, and Sophie Ribeiro picked up assists.
Not only has Head Coach Kristin Grassi had the chance to coach these players for multiple seasons, she also had them as students in class.
“This is a special senior group because they are like my kids,” said Coach Grassi. “They are a tremendous group of hardworking young women with great leadership. When they graduate, it will be like more of my own kids moving on.”
Next, the Panthers will face St. John Paul II Academy on Tuesday, January 13, at 5 p.m. This year, the Cowboys are 3-4-2 and have won four of their past five games.
Boys Team
For the boys team, the Panthers faced a tough battle against Flanagan and settled for a 2-2 draw.
CSC honored five seniors in Jose Resendiz, Mason Lentz, John Camacho, Andrew Mersch, Ryan Head along with team manager Kelvin Pierrot. The Panthers had their lone win on December 14 in a 7-0 victory over Somerset Academy Preparatory Charter School.
Next, CSC will face John Paul II Academy on Tuesday, January 13, at 5 p.m in the team’s final regular-season game.
