Coral Springs Charter’s Madison Micioni officially signed her letter of intent to play college soccer at Florida Atlantic University.
After committing in August, Micioni will play for the Owls after graduating from CSC in the spring.
After tearing her ACL in travel ball, she cannot compete on the varsity team. However, FAU kept a spot open.
“I’m so excited to start a new chapter of playing soccer at the next level at FAU, but also to further my academic education as well in the medical field,” Micioni said.
Micioni played at Team Boca with coach Patrick Baker and won a State Championship despite tearing her ACL in a scrimmage. She says her recovery is coming along well and can watch her teammates on varsity on the sidelines, including her younger sister Marissa.
She became the second player in the past two years to go to a Division I program after Bailey Sweginis signed to play with the University of South Florida last season.
In her two years on the varsity team, Micioni recorded 20 goals and 14 assists as a defender. She helped lead the Panthers to the playoffs for consective seasons after starting her soccer career in seventh grade.
“We were considered a family. We lost together, won together, cried together, getting hurt together,” Micioni added. “Everyone was there for each other at people’s lowest. And I will never forget anyone on that team.
When she attends FAU, she will join a school that went 6-7-1 during the 2021 season and reached the second round of the Conference Tournament after winning the penalty kicks.
