Coral Springs Charter Softball Coach Mark Montimurro Elected to FACA Hall of Fame

The legacy of Coral Springs Charter softball coach Mark Montimurro continues to grow after he was officially elected to the Florida Athletic Coaches Association (FACA) Hall of Fame.

“Any Hall of Fame induction is a tremendous and humbling honor, Montimurro said. “ To be an inducted, active coach is pretty cool too. I still have the fire to do it. Every time I think about giving it up, we get a batch of young kids that reinvigorate me, and I think about the possibility of winning more titles. I want every group that comes through our program to feel the thrill of winning states.”

Montimurro has established himself as one of the most successful softball coaches in the country, winning eight state championships during his career. Six of those titles have come at Coral Springs Charter, most recently leading the Panthers back to the top by capturing the 2026 State Championship.

After winning five consecutive state championships from 2015-19, Coral Springs Charter endured a six-year title drought before returning to the top this season. The Panthers’ championship run included a Regional Final victory over nationally ranked Cardinal Gibbons, followed by dominant wins in both the State Semifinals and the State Championship game, securing the program’s sixth state title.

Before arriving at Coral Springs Charter, Montimurro led Hollywood Christian School to two state championships and has built a remarkable career spanning several South Florida programs. He has compiled more than 651 career victories, helped over 100 players earn opportunities to play collegiate softball, won 20 district championships and five county titles, and has been named Coach of the Year 36 times.

Known for transforming programs into championship contenders, Montimurro has enjoyed success everywhere he has coached, including J.P. Taravella, Hollywood Christian, University School, and Coral Springs Charter.
