Coral Springs Commission Highlights Budget Hearings, 9/11 Remembrance and September Events

As we welcome September, the City Commission encourages residents to stay informed and engaged. Budget season is underway, and we remain committed to a transparent process that gives our community the opportunity to learn, ask questions, and participate.

The first Budget Hearing for Fiscal Year 2027 will take place on Tuesday, September 15, at 5:15 p.m., followed by the regular City Commission Meeting at 6:30 p.m. The second and final budget hearing will be held on Wednesday, September 23, at 6:30 p.m., followed by the regular Commission Meeting. Meetings are aired on CityTV, Blue Stream Channels 25, 25.7, 725 and on AT&T U-Verse channel 99. Meetings are also live-streamed at CoralSprings.gov/citytv.

September is also Suicide Prevention Month, a time to raise awareness, reduce the stigma surrounding mental health, and remind those who may be struggling that help is available. The 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline provides free, confidential support 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for anyone experiencing a mental health crisis or emotional distress. There are also many opportunities to get involved in the community this month. As part of our "Coral Springs Let's Move!" initiative, join Mayor Scott Brook for Pickleball on Thursday, September 3, from 8 to 9 a.m. at Riverside Park, Court 1 (205 Coral Ridge Drive). Join Commissioner Shawn Cerra for Basketball at the Coral Springs Gymnasium (2501 Coral Springs Drive) on Tuesday, September 8, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Register now at CoralSprings.gov/move.

On Friday, September 11, at 8:30 a.m., the city will hold a 9/11 Remembrance Ceremony at the Northwest Regional Library (3151 North University Drive). This annual gathering pays tribute to the victims and heroes of the September 11, 2001, attacks on our nation. Residents are welcome to visit the monument throughout the day to reflect and honor the lives lost on that fateful day.

Meet the instructors and organizers of some of the city’s top recreation programs! Join us for Family Fun Night on Wednesday, September 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Coral Springs Gymnasium (2501 Coral Springs Drive). Get ready for an evening filled with excitement, activities, and opportunities to explore all that the Parks and Recreation Department has to offer.

On Friday, September 18, join us in recognizing International Peace Day with a ceremony at 8 a.m. at the Coral Springs Center for the Arts (2855 Coral Springs Drive). Community leaders and local students will come together through words, music, and art to celebrate peace, unity, and understanding.

Experience the culture, cuisine, and traditions of Portugal during this year's International Dinner Dance on Saturday, September 19 at 6:30 p.m. at Marriott Heron Bay (11775 Heron Bay Blvd). Guests will enjoy live entertainment, dinner, dancing, complimentary wine, and a photo booth while celebrating the featured country. Attendees are encouraged to dress in the attire of the featured country. Tickets are available now at CoralSprings.gov/dinnerdance.

Keeping children safe remains a priority. On Saturday, September 26, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Coral Springs-Parkland Fire Department will host a free Car Seat Installation Event in the City Hall Parking Garage (9500 W. Sample Road). Certified staff will be available to ensure car seats are installed correctly and answer questions.
