A Coral Springs father of two has died from COVID-19, according to a GoFundMe page raising money for his family.
Samuel Soldano, 64, “fought hard for 2 weeks, but sadly has lost the battle,” according to the fundraiser page. He died on Aug. 8.
“Covid has been an awful virus which has affected many people around the globe, but this time, it struck quickly and fiercely close to home,” wrote the fundraiser’s organizer, Davena Tarpinian.
“We continue to pray and lift the family with all of our love and care,” Tarpinian wrote. “Many of you have asked what you can do to help the Soldano family at this difficult time. If you know Sam, then you know his primary concern has always been loving and providing for his family. It would be an honor to Sam’s deep love and devotion if you would kindly consider donating funds to help them as they navigate through these heartbreaking circumstances and try to move forward in a very different life than what they had planned.”
In a Facebook tribute, Soldano’s friend Robert Weber said his battle with the disease started July 24 when he contracted the coronavirus that took his life.
“He is the second friend of mine in South Florida to lose their battle with this terrible virus in the past 24 hours,” wrote Weber. “Like many, I too wasn’t convinced that this virus was such a big deal, but it’s proving otherwise!”
He called Soldano “a heathy loving husband and father that enjoyed life to the max.”
“He was always helping others any way that he could.”
The GoFundMe page had raised $19,855 toward a $20,000 goal as of Monday night.
