Coral Springs High School Baseball Continues Sending Talent to the Next Level

The 2026 senior class at Coral Springs High School officially has 10 baseball players set to continue their careers at the collegiate level, while another former Colt is making the jump to Division I baseball.
Following the signings of Ryan Guthrie, Luis Comella, Alain Ducasse, Jayden Nunez, Angelo Painter, Jordan Guzman, Gabriel DeLaCruz, and Dallas Searcy, Marcus Crespo has committed to South Carolina Central, while Diego Avilia will continue his career at Atlantis University.
The group adds to the growing success of the Colts program under former head coach John Brown, who stepped down earlier this year after taking over the program in 2022.
"It's always great to see your players have the opportunity to play at the next level," Brown said. "Being able to see our guys graduate each year while having 21 players move on to the next level in our five years is something any coach, community, and administration could be proud of."
Crespo spent his junior season at I.P. Taravella before transferring to Coral Springs for his senior year. At Taravella, he batted .295 with three doubles and nine RBIs. After joining the Colts, he helped the team reach the District Championship and the Regional Tournament, driving in 14 runs while adding a double and a triple during a 15-win season.

Avilia also transferred to Coral Springs for his senior year after playing at Deerfield Beach High School. As a junior, he hit .294 with a home run and 12 RBIs before driving in eight runs and adding a double during his lone season with the Colts.
The Colts also celebrated another major milestone as 2023 graduate Martin Malick earned a Division I opportunity after transferring to Prairie View A&M following two standout seasons at Allen Community College.
Martin Malick led Coral Springs with a .349 batting average during his senior season in 2023, scoring 24 runs while collecting six RBIs, two doubles, and a triple. At Allen Community College, he developed into one of the team's top offensive players, most recently batting .350 with six home runs, 26 RBIs, 36 runs scored, and 16 stolen bases before making the move to Prairie View A&M.
"The coaching staff from day one understood what needed to be done," Brown said. "There was never a complaint or worry about success. It was just a matter of time, gaining the experience and learning how to win big games year after year."
