The District Tournament in baseball featured multiple local teams competing, with two programs reaching the championship game and advancing to Regionals.
Coral Springs High School earned the top seed in its district and received a bye in the opening round, then dominated Piper High School 11-0 in the semifinals. The game was shortened to five innings, as Aiden Roy allowed just one hit over five scoreless innings.
Ryan Guthrie powered the offense with two doubles and three RBIs, while Marcus Crespo also drove in three runs. Adrian Sosa added two RBIs, and Natron Wheeler and Dallas Searcy each contributed one.
The Colts fell just short in the championship game, losing 2-1 to West Boca Raton Community High School. Despite the loss, CSHS qualified for Regionals and played Miami Southridge High School, but lost 4-0. Each team, though, had only one hit in the game as CSHS finished the season 15-8
Coral Springs Charter reached the District Championship following a narrow 1-0 victory over American Heritage High School. Edward Canard threw a complete-game shutout, allowing only three hits, while Rodney Chung scored the game’s lone run in the fourth inning.
In the championship game, the Panthers jumped out to an early 2-0 lead against North Broward Prep but were unable to hold on, surrendering six unanswered runs in a 6-2 loss. Easton Viveros highlighted the offense with an RBI double that nearly cleared the center-field fence.
In a rematch during Regionals, CSC jumped out to a 4-0 lead after one inning, but was unable to add runs anymore and fell 6-4 in extra innings after allowing a two-run walk-off home run.
Coral Glades entered the tournament as the third seed but fell 15-5 to Western High School. The Jaguars held early leads of 2-0 and 3-2 before a late-game collapse, including an eight-run fifth inning by Western.
Enzo Hernandez and Brandon Guzman each recorded two RBIs, while Charlie Beaty added one. Coral Glades used six pitchers in the game, with five allowing at least one run. They finish the season with a 14-10 record.
J.P. Taravella faced five-time defending state champion Marjory Stoneman Douglas and held the powerful Eagles offense in check, but was shut out in a 3-0 loss. Stoneman Douglas scored once in the first inning and added two more in the second before being silenced the rest of the game.
Clovens Challenger, Julian Classen, Alex Vizquel, and Adamo Vellucci each recorded hits for the Trojans. Bryson Plante stood out with 3.2 scoreless innings in relief following Ryan Dolan’s start, and Jack Almeida also contributed a scoreless inning. Taravella concludes its season with an 11-14 record.
