Coral Springs has selected RLC Management Sports Programs to provide competitive and travel soccer, marking a move toward a new provider.
During the May 6 meeting, the commission agreed to award a Request for Proposal to RLC Management Sports Programs, operating as Springs Soccer Club of Coral Springs. With this award, RLC becomes the organization responsible for organizing and managing travel and development soccer programs within the city, according to Deputy City Manager Bradley McKeone.
The commission also directed city staff to work with Coral Springs Youth Soccer, the program that has provided recreational soccer in the city for many years and is run by volunteers, and Fort Lauderdale Football Club, a program that submitted a bid but was not chosen by the soccer selection committee, according to McKeone.
“All programs will be recognized and be under the guidance of our sports policy, which is overseen by the parks and recreation director. Fields will be identified by parks and recreation and assigned to avoid conflict,” said McKeone.
RLC will receive money from player registrations, in which players choose their club. The city will not pay them a fee, according to McKeone.
Denise Fatigate, the president of Coral Springs Youth Soccer, said her program will continue to offer recreational soccer to the city’s young people.
RLC, as the designated competitive soccer provider, runs the Springs Soccer Club and offers a player development program for ages 8-19. The company provides programs, camps, clinics, and events intended to give players at all skill levels year-round opportunities to enhance their soccer abilities, according to the Springs Soccer Club website.
