Coral Springs Homebuyers Could Receive Up to $80,000 in Purchase Assistance

Coral Springs Weighs 5 Percent Tax Hike for Local Businesses

Coral Springs residents may have an opportunity to get financial help to purchase a home.

During the August 5 meeting, the commission passed a resolution to approve an interlocal agreement between Broward County and Coral Springs for HOME funds for a purchase assistance program.

To qualify for and be considered for this program, a family must complete an eight-hour housing counseling workshop, be approved by a lender, have a house under contract, and complete an application with the Broward County Housing Finance Division.

Funds become available on October 1 each year. The program is open to individuals applying to purchase in Broward County on a first-come, first-served basis. Once there is funding, applicants will be considered, according to Sayona Khandwalla, spokesperson for Coral Springs.

Applicants can receive up to $80,000 in assistance for purchases in the City of Coral Springs. The city does not contribute any funds to the HOME program, and these funds are allocated to Broward County by HUD, according to Khandwalla.
