A Coral Springs man is accused of choking and assaulting his ex-girlfriend before filling her backpack with feces, urine, and other liquids and dumping the contents on her, police said.
Coral Springs Police Department records show Daniel Edward Niemiec, 20, was arrested on July 2 and charged with domestic battery by strangulation and two counts of domestic battery following a tip from the victim’s family member, who came to the police department to report the abuse.
According to Investigators, the victim reported that a fight had taken place days prior in which Niemiec had allegedly slapped and choked her. Following the altercations, the victim claims she returned to his apartment complex on July 1 to retrieve her belongings. While she was in the parking lot, Niemiec allegedly came outside carrying her backpack.
Police say Niemiec had allegedly defecated and urinated into the backpack before filling it with hot sauce, ketchup, soda, and other unidentified liquids. Instead of returning her belongings, officers say he dumped the backpack’s contents over the victim and all over the parking lot.
A witness who was present during the incident later gave a statement to police corroborating that Niemiec dumped the backpack’s contents onto the victim in the parking lot, according to the affidavit.
After his arrest, police said Niemiec admitted to throwing the backpack’s contents. According to investigators, he told detectives he believed the victim had cheated on him and said filling the backpack with feces, urine, hot sauce, soda, ketchup, and other fluids “would be payback.” He also reportedly said that when the victim returned for her belongings, he threw them toward her in the parking lot but could not remember where the items landed.
Niemiec was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Broward County Jail.
