Coral Springs Resident and FSU Student Crowned Miss Tallahassee

A Coral Springs resident has just been crowned Miss Tallahassee and will now be eligible to compete in the Miss Florida competition in June.
Alana Scheuerer, 21, a 2015 graduate of Coral Glades High School, currently attends Florida State University. After she graduates in May with a degree in hospitality and tourism, she will be continuing her education at FSU to earn her masters in American Dance Studies.
Held at Florida A&M University’s Lee Hall Auditorium, the Miss Tallahassee competition featured six contestants.
“I am humbled and excited to embark on this journey and I am looking forward to meeting new people, represent our state’s capital city and expressing my passion for my platform which is “Let’s Tap: Tapping into Community Engagement with the Arts," said Alana.
The daughter of Marisa Mirasola, a Coral Springs High School graduate and stepfather Dorian Mirasola, a graduate of J.P. Taravella, Alana's younger brother Dylan is finishing his senior year at Coral Glades High School. They all reside in the Cypress Run community.
As Miss Tallahassee, Scheuerer will receive a $500 scholarship and the opportunity to compete for the Miss Florida title in Lakeland.
During her year as Miss Tallahassee, she will travel throughout area advocating her platform focusing on community engagement and empowerment through the arts.

Talent Competition Winner – Kayla Gallego – Pembroke Pines, Florida
Private Interview Competition Winner – Alana Scheuerer, Coral Springs, FL
Dr. Denise Barrett, executive director of the Miss Tallahassee Organization said Alana embodies the qualities a role model for young women and girls should have.
